Couch Covers & Pillowcases
-
We’re combining these two categories for now, as we currently only have one recommendation for each. Most of our sheets and/or pillow recommendations will be accompanied by their own (correspondingly clean) pillow covers. But if you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, we’re big fans of our recommendation below. For couch covers, this is the only Non-Toxic one we’ve been able to find, which can be a great help if you need to stick with a conventional sofa for a little while longer before transitioning to a cleaner option.
Magic Linen
If having to stick with a conventional couch for the moment, this non-toxic couch cover can help minimize VOC offgassing and potential absorption of endocrine disrupting conventional fabric treatments. Made with OEKO-Tex certified European Flax and minimal cotton, available in a range of colors. To our knowledge, this is the closest to non-toxic a couch cover can get, within the framework of what is currently commercially available.

Clementine
Clementine sleepwear is, true to the name, mainly a sleepwear company, though they do have a fantastic silk pillowcase option. Using 6A Mulberry Silk, the highest grade of mulberry silk commercially available, their pillowcases are GOTS & Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, and bluesign approved. The dyes used for the colored options are OEKO-Tex certified, though still petrochemical-based, and Clementine is in the process of transitioning to 100% GOTS approved organic dyes. For chemically sensitive individuals, their current recommendation is to go with the Pearl White option, as this is completely undyed and their cleanest option overall. The founder is chemically sensitive herself, and knows the dance. Also, a great option for silk PJs!
